Excerpt from the 1980s original sales brochure:
Appropriately, Rancho Arbolitos means "Ranch of the Little Trees". Over 50,000 eucalyptus trees are being planted throughout Rancho Arbolitos, to provide a setting of natural beauty for this fine residential community... The first eucalyptus seedlings were brought to California in 1856 and became popular as windbreaks. For eight years, between 1904 and 1912, thousands of acres of these trees were intended for railroad ties, but the wood, unfortunately, could not hold spikes firmly enough. So the vast plantations of the eucalyptus trees were left to grow into fragrant forests of natural splendor... The 11 species of eucalyptus selected for Rancho Arbolitos are among the finest and cleanest of all varieties... The eucalyptus trees of Rancho Arbolitos are yours to enjoy for a lifetime of constantly growing beauty. |
the palisades
The Palisades neighborhood was built around the same time as Parkside; its first homes also constructed in 1988. The Palisades is a cut above, to be sure. All 163 homes in The Palisades are single-story, ranch-style homes which occupy one-acre lots or larger; they feature elegant circular driveways and many possess some of the most stunning views available in all of Poway.
Silverset neighborhood parkSilverset Neighborhood Park is located at the end of Silverset St. in the Woodside neighborhood, at the foot of Twin Peaks Mtn. It features two playgrounds, a baseball field, a basketball court, large grassy areas for picnicking, a fitness trail and access to Twin Peaks Trailhead.
